Spiti: Surreal, Mystic and Magical. See it to believe it (Part 3 of 3)

If you are familiar with video games, you know what a boss fight is – those prolonged climatic moments when you fight the most evil superpower before tasting victory. Reaching Spiti is like a boss fight, it is the most difficult part of the journey, where you cross many hurdles, like the deadliest of roads, the pressure of high altitude and crazy weather condition. Finally, it feels quite like a victory once you make it to Spiti. You can’t help but feel that you are in a different world, which is why, a century ago Rudyard Kipling described Spiti as ‘a world within a world’. Spiti valley is a cold mountain desert, which hosts an incredible blend of Tibetian culture, picturesque landscape and virgin nature.

Enroute Spiti: Trek to Chandratal lake (Part 2 of 3)

Chandratal lake was the last point of my solo trip. Since I was travelling from Kinnaur (read the previous post about Kinnaur trip), I had to stay in Kaza for a night, and catch an early morning bus to Kunjum pass. Many travelers trek from Batal to Chandral lake, but Kunjum pass is a better option if you are taking public transport from Kaza. (more…)

Kinnaur – Solo trip through the valleys of Green Magic (Part 1 of 3)

As a kid, I used to daydream of being an astronaut and travel through space. I now reckon that every solo traveler is like an astronaut and both have one thing in common – the possibilities to explore something new in every step. This post is about my solo trip across Kinnaur and Spiti, and it was my first visit to the Himalayas.
